Rabbis cannot enter the Tomb of Patriarchs     11/16/2008

If you are a Rabbi who enters the city of Hebron with BtS,  you are prohibitted from entering the Tomb of Patriarchs. Around 40 rabbis from the US learned this first hand last week when they arrived in the city with a BtS tour. Click here for for full story.

Leading Israeli personalities including Amos Oz, A.B. Yehoshua and Mordechai Kremnitzer, signed a petition in "Haaretz" newspaper calling the Israeli Police to enforce law in Hebron, and to return the Breaking the Silence tours to Hebon. Breaking the Silence Return to Hebron     

Breaking the SIlence are renrewing their tours to Hebron, after a period of over a month of absence. The absence was due to a Hebron Police devision to not allow the tours to the city. Breaking the Silence appealed to the High Court toallow the tours to continue. Last Thursday, 5.6.08, The State came to an agreement with Breaking the Silence, and we will continue our tours as before.





BTS to High Court: Let us see Hebron     5/22/2008

Yesterday, the 21st of May, "Breaking the Silence" appealed to the High Court through attorney Michael Sfard, an urgent appeal against the IDF and Hebron police policy, who have benn barring for over a month the organization's entrance to Hebron for the sake of tours, and apprehending the tour guides. The new Brigadier General of Hebron, General Udi Ben Muha decided around a month ago that the tours guided by the organization weekly for over three years will be stopped from now on, and gave orders to expel from the city any member of the organization.

Breaking the Silence launches today a new booklet of testimonies containing stories of soldiers who served in Hebron from 2005-2007.
This Passover when we are commemorating 40 years to the Israeli settlement in Hebron, we ask to show the public the moral price inherent to the IDF's control over the Occupied Territories.

The exhibition (a collaboration between Breaking the Silence and ActiveStills) includes photographs taken by Israeli and Palestinian photographers over the past 40 years in the city of Hebron, including pictures taken by soldiers from Breaking the Silence


Opening: Wednesday March 19, at 7pm at the Minshar School for Art gallery,

18 David Hakhami St, Tel Aviv.

The exhibition will close on the 30th of April.

Yesh Din: 90% of investigations against IDF closed     

Yesh Din report publishes that out of 1,091 files that were opened against soldiers suspected of harming Palestinians, only 118 ended up with indictments . Also in the report -- Since 2000 only 30 cases were opened against soldiers shooting at Palestinians, 29 up unit the year 2005. The report in English can be found here
