Are there racist remarks?Obviously, lots. I don't remember the jingles they sing, but the gist is that they sing "Death to Arabs" songs. I don't think there were instances of violence, because we really truly created absolute separation, we were really strict about it in the interest of keeping the peace. You just distance them from one another, and never allow them to achieve a state of contact. While I was there were many instances in which people from the Avraham Avinu neighborhood would freely throw garbage, diapers, right into the casbah. I saw it. We even shouted at someone once. I was patrolling below and she throws, and I shout to her "Keep your garbage at home." There's a net over the market, and I always saw that it was full of garbage. It took me (time) to make the connection and suddenly I saw a diaper fall on the netting.
They throw regularly?They throw regularly.
