We were manning the Beqa'ot checkpoint even before it was made permanent. There were no concrete structures there then, nothing. At the outbreak of the Intifada, we were simply stationed there on the hill above that checkpoint. One day this – I forget the army name for it – yellow blinker was stolen by some Palestinians. The next morning, 5 a.m., they would all wait there for some bus to pick them up for work. So the platoon commander came along, decided he would make them all stand in a line and not let them go before they either give back that blinker or tell who did it. He said he was certain it was the same group. I don't know how certain it was. Anyway, I don't think the army will get lost because one blinker got lost, and it's certainly no reason to detain people. I witnessed a half-hour delay and then I left, I was replaced. I don't know how long they were made to wait there. This was certainly humiliating, too.

Were there children in this group?Youngsters, women were there, not sure about little kids. I suppose there were people of all ages.
