At worst, you kill somebody
Rank: First Sergeant
Unit: Armored Corps
Area: Deir al-Balah area
period: 2000

There was this incident when my commander decided he identified somebody about a thousand meters away. No, it was the gunner, because the commander told him off. He decided he identified somebody firing from a thousand meters away, so he fired at him.

What with?I don't remember if it was a Mag or a 0.5. . . the gunner fired to a thousand meters into a built-up area. At best, you hit a wall, at worst you kill somebody who is not the one you aimed at.

Knowing the gunner, why did he do it?I don't know, maybe the chance to fire excited him, maybe he thought he was doing the right thing. I don't know.

The commander told him off?Yes, he told him he did wrong; you don't fire at a thousand meters. Otherwise I wouldn't know about it, because I was in the driver's cabin, I didn't know who he was shooting at.

Beyond that, was there a debriefing? Was he punished? He definitely wasn't punished. I don't think there was a debriefing.
