You come with your team to a house, seize it, and start throwing all kinds of camouflage nets and stuff over the openings, set up a lookout around the Worshipers’ Route. We sat there, and went out once a day or so to do a foot-patrol, to the Tomb of the Patriarchs and back. When we got there, there were no people in the house. They were evacuated a day or two earlier, I think, the family. It looked like the home of people who live there every day. I don’t know if there was some arrangement with the family or not, if they were collaborators or were just thrown out of their own home because it was strategically located. I don’t have any particularly strong memory from there, except for the fact that we had to make kids go away. In order for a small minority [of Israeli settlers] to be able to walk to prayers, we had to close off streets and make people go away and make everyone afraid of us. If there were [Palestinians] out on the route, we had to clear them away so they wouldn’t hang around there, so they wouldn’t be a threat.
