Something else that happened was that we saw BP guys, for instance, stopping a Palestinian in the street and asking him to open his bag. Sometimes the Palestinians didn’t know how to open the bag because it had a [lock with a] code. I don’t know, maybe they were nervous or I don’t know why. Maybe it was the nerves, he didn’t manage to open the bag. The BP guy starts yelling at him. What shocked me was that without anything, nothing, he comes and cocks his weapon at the bag, that if he doesn’t open the bag in five seconds, he’s just going to shoot the lock open with a bullet. I didn’t understand. I thought that maybe he was doing it because the man was really a terrorist, a person doesn’t manage to open his bag, you think maybe it’s something suspicious. In the end, he opened the bag and there was never a bomb or anything, just books and stuff.
Do these things take place at static army posts or on patrol? They’re walking along the street getting bored?
Both. If I’m not mistaken. It could be both, but it really doesn’t matter. It can be done at a static post. And I think these things will happen as long as there is contact with the local population.
You’re a soldier and you see the Border Police guys…
You can’t do a thing about it.
