On Shabbat Hayai Sara, we were at this station in Abu Sneinah with a spotlight so big it was like "batman." We would randomly use it to show our presence - shining a light into all the houses in Abu Sneinah, with this spotlight which would search for them. Just so there would be a feeling that "Big Brother" was looking for them. Because it was the Shabbat of Chayei Sara - it's really important to instill terror in the local population. Once a soldier dressed up as an Arab and waited in this spot so we could arrest him, and he screamed and resisted and we arrested him with force, and took him with us to all sorts of places in the casbah (market). This soldier dressed up as an Arab, just so they would see - to demonstrate our presence, to show them how we arrest someone, even when he makes a scene. Sometimes, we would go to some door and mark an x on it, to show our presence. We would take stick lights, go into the courtyard of some building, break open the stick lights and throw them into the courtyard, so they would think we carried out some sort of operation there. We would consistently make sure that the local population knows, is aware, that we were there, all the time. All the time there to annoy them. People go out to buy sugar, we would stop them along the way and take their ID cards. We would harass them all, all for the sake of the settlers. Another unit did a Straw Widow (the seizure of a house for military purposes) on some house on their own volition. They set up camp on one of the floors of some family's house, and the family went elsewhere. It was completely arbitrary. We would harass the population there all the time.
