What’s the deal with the face masks?I don’t know, I don’t know. I really don’t know. I think the company received some donation and we had to sort of toe the line and wear them.
Did someone say that they have to be worn?Yes, sometimes [they] say that we have to wear [them].
Who says, the company commander?Company commander, deputy, officer.
Why do [you] have to wear it?Why? I don’t know.
When I was in the military, there wasn’t ever anything like that. You want to know why I think [it is]?
Yes.Because the military is a kingdom of children. Those who get ahead in the military are those who are the most childish and those who get most excited by things like this. And they get excited by face masks, it’s like fucking commando shit. So fuck it – [it’s now considered] professionalism for the entire company to wear face masks. I don’t think they really think about the fact that you look like fucking forces of evil in Star Wars when you’re with an entire squad with face masks that’s entering a [Palestinian] home. It’s more of a kind of childish thing, like kind of cool, until at some point everyone realizes that this shit itches, is hot and uncomfortable.
That’s the first thing I thought of, it’s probably insanely uncomfortable and really hot. You can’t breathe. But like is it something that’s standard now? No. I don’t think so.
Did you wear face masks in every arrest? No.
Is there a logic to when you did and when you didn’t? I think like there were arrests where they said: Okay let’s do it, everyone wears face masks. But if you’re heading out now on something long that extends into the day and the sun and that, then no. Were there other missions other than arrests that you would do with face masks? Generally only arrests.
