I’d like to go into the routine a bit. Is there deterrent fire opened from the post? Let me tell you one story that’s a bit funny and a bit sad. I don’t know what was done with it later on. I know a bit. The company had its firing range at the outer edge of the post, facing Gaza. It’s over Gaza, right? Netzarim is above Gaza…? I so much don’t remember that I… It was in the direction of Gaza. And there are those large towers, twin towers, that were taken down several months later. Huge towers. So, at the upper post, there was this Barrett (heavy sniper’s rifle) that was supposed to be fired if the post was attacked. And below was the firing range… Now, the range commander forgot to request approval to open fire. I happened to be there in the company commander’s room when it happened, [during] a briefing. The commander hears it all on the two-way radio, and he’s screaming. The firing range opened fire without requesting approval. The Barrett comes on the radio and says he’s being fired at. And the Barrett was firing like crazy! We began to hear both the firing range from below and the Barrett above. He was firing at suspect targets like a madman! Until the firing range came on radio and told him they were firing and forgot to get approval, and that he’d better hold his fire right away…
What do you mean by shooting at suspect targets? I guess he fired at the twin towers, he’s shooting! A Barrett, it’s night-time and he’s shooting! Firing at all kinds of suspect spots. I suppose he fired at those houses, and stuff like that…
